SWWS Fall Dance

Big Changes in Our Classes This Fall!

Starting on September 4th, Liza Halpenny will teach a Challenge Class, for dancers who know all the basics and want to improve technique and explore challenging dances. These classes will be held 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at 7:30 PM at Columbia Dance Center.

September 11, And every 2nd Tuesday, Low Impact/Adaptive Class, Marge van Nus Teaching.

Beginning September 21st, Linda Mae Dennis's Friday class is moving to TWO new venues, and a new time!

On the 1st and 4th Fridays of the month, her Fab Friday Fun Class will be held at 7:00 PM at Hazel Dell Grange, 7509 NE Hazel Dell Ave, Vancouver, WA.

On the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th Fridays of the month, these classes will be held at 7:00 PM at St Luke's Episcopal Church, 426 E. Fourth Plain Blvd, Vancouver, WA (just a few blocks north of the Columbia Dance Center).

Note: the first Fab Friday Fun Class class will be September 21st.
September 25, and every 4th Tuesday, Low Impact/Adaptive Class, Lisa Scott teaching.

OUR CLASS IN ACTION! Perhaps you've wondered what Scottish Country Dancing looks like? Well, now you can view a short video of our class dancing "Knit the Pocky". (A "pocky" is a fingerless glove, worn to keep the hands warm while freeing the fingers for detailed tasks.)

SCD CLASS AND PERFORMANCE TEAM VIDEOS Here's a short video of members of the Vancouver WA class dancing a delightful jig, Black Donald (2nd Carnforth Coll.), at a retirement home in Januuary of 2011. Here's a short video of The Vancouver USA SCD Performance Team dancing a medley of three dances: Alyth Burn, a jig (RSCDS Bk 3); Linnea's Strathspey, a strathspey (Tim Wilson, 2001); and Red House, a reel (RSCDS Bk 7). This video was taken at the Clark County Fair, Ridgefield, Washington, in August of 2008.
